Who: Operators Mike and Jessica, Pierce County Sheriff, Everett Police and Everett School Patrol
What: Three suspected burglars in custody
When: March 15, 2013 at 10:16 p.m. and March 16, 2013 at 1:30 a.m.
Where: An auto wrecking/rebuilding shop in Spanaway, Wash. and a school construction jobsite in Everett, Wash.
How: Not long after 10 p.m. on Friday, Mike received multiple security activations at a Roy Y Autowrecking in Spanaway. Through the facility’s monitored surveillance system, he saw a male walking through the yard carrying tools. Mike dispatched Pierce County Police. When officers arrived, they saw that the locks had been broken with bolt cutters. One suspect was arrested in connection with the incident. The suspect had attempted to steal CD players and radiators.
A few hours later at 1:30 a.m., Jessica received security activations and surveillance footage of two people at a construction site for the Everett School District. She dispatched Everett PD and called the EVSD school patrol. Police officers and a guard from the school patrol arrived and found two people, one of whom admitted that they were there to steal copper. Both were arrested for burglary and trespassed from all EVSD properties for life. Interestingly, the construction site security system had only been in place for less than a day before detecting the intruders!
