The night shift at our Verification Center was buzzing with activity as usual on February 19 when Joe, an Operator, received a video alarm notification of activity at a construction site near Seattle Center. He could see two people wandering around and it looked like one of them was picking up items or possibly vandalizing. Joe dispatched Seattle PD and then received another video clip showing a suspect carrying wire. Officers arrived and surrounded the area. They saw a man attempting to run away, but according to the police blotter he surrendered quickly. The second suspect climbed over a fence and was able to escape.
