Home Security Tips to Keep Your Pets Safe

February 20th is National Love Your Pet Day. At Secure Pacific, we take our pets seriously. Bob the Schnauzer is a frequent visitor in our Portland, Everett and Boise offices, and it is not uncommon to see cats, dogs and chickens wandering through our parking lots from nearby homes. When a pet is a member of your family, keeping them safe is important. People sometimes say that they don’t need a burglar alarm for their home because they have a dog—there are even plenty of signs that say the same. Many household dogs, however, are accustomed to people and may not have the tough response to an intruder that you might expect. Even if they do hold their ground, you can never be sure that an intruder would be scared away or harmed by your furry friend. We would never want to see a dog or other pet put in harm’s way, so we recommend using a real, verified home security system. If you’re away from home for long periods of time and want to make sure that your pets are happy and healthy, remote video monitoring can be an effective way to check in. You can see what’s going on in your home and make changes to your lights, temperature and even electronics using home automation systems. Show love for your pet today and every day by making sure you’re doing all you can to keep them safe.
